Statutory Compliance Consulting
Statutory compliance consulting is the ongoing management of a manufacturing plant's legal obligations to its workforce and to the state — PF/EPFO administration, ESIC registration and contribution, Professional Tax filing, and the calculation and deposit of statutory dues that keep a plant's payroll and labour practices inside the law. Unity has run this practice since 2005, built by a founder who managed manufacturing operations before he managed compliance for other people's plants.

The statutory calendar, managed
Statutory compliance is where a plant's obligations to its workforce and to the state get met on schedule — or quietly lapse. Unity manages the full calendar: PF/EPFO administration, ESIC, Professional Tax, and the calculation and deposit of statutory dues, with documentation maintained to stand up to a labour-department or EPFO audit.
It is distinct from, but often paired with, payroll management — compliance consulting is the statutory-filing side, payroll is the operational processing that feeds it. Many plants run both together for a single accurate data source.
How it works
Compliance audit
We start by reviewing your current PF, ESIC, Professional Tax, and statutory-dues position — what's filed, what's current, and where gaps exist against Maharashtra's requirements.
Document preparation and UAN administration
Unity prepares the statutory documentation your plant needs and manages UAN updates in payroll for EPFO compliance — a recurring administrative task most in-house HR teams underestimate until it's overdue.
Ongoing filing and deposit
We calculate and process the statutory dues owed each cycle — PF, ESIC, and Professional Tax contributions — and manage the filing and deposit schedule so nothing lapses.
Audit-ready record-keeping
Documentation is maintained in a form that stands up to a labour department or EPFO audit, so a compliance review doesn't turn into a scramble.
Compliance specifics
This service exists to manage four statutes directly. PF (EPFO) covers Provident Fund contributions and UAN administration for every eligible employee. ESIC covers Employees' State Insurance registration and contribution for workers under the wage threshold. Professional Tax is the state-level deduction and filing that varies by Maharashtra's slab structure. The Minimum Wages Act ensures wage structures for both direct and contract staff meet the state-notified minimum. We also track obligations under the Shops & Establishment Act for the administrative side of a facility.
Each of these carries its own filing calendar and penalty exposure for lapses — the reason plants engage a dedicated compliance practice rather than treating it as a payroll-adjacent afterthought.
Frequently asked questions
Compliance consulting is the statutory-filing and regulatory side — PF, ESIC, Professional Tax, documentation. Payroll management is the operational processing of salaries, leave, and attendance. Many clients use both together, but they are distinct engagements.
Yes — contract labour deployed on your site carries its own PF and ESIC obligations under the Contract Labour (Regulation & Abolition) Act, which we track alongside your direct-employee compliance so nothing falls between the principal employer and the contractor.
PF and ESIC contributions are calculated and deposited on a monthly cycle; Professional Tax filing frequency depends on your registration category under Maharashtra's Profession Tax rules. We manage the full calendar so deadlines aren't tracked manually on your side.
We start with an audit of your current position, identify what's overdue or incorrectly filed, and build a remediation plan before moving to steady-state monthly management — this is a common starting point for new clients, not an unusual case.
Yes — we serve clients across Chakan MIDC, Bhosari MIDC, and through our Nashik and Kolhapur branch offices.
Yes — audit-ready record-keeping is built into the ongoing engagement, not a separate add-on, so your plant can respond to a labour department or client compliance audit without a scramble.
